It's My Birthday Month!

It's My Birthday Month!

It's My Birthday Month

Let's get the confession out of the way: I sat on this post for a week because I wasn't sure I wanted to make my birthday A Whole Thing on a business blog. Then I remembered — this whole brand exists because I stopped pretending I didn't have feelings about things. So. Here we are.

July is my birthday month. Cancer season BABY! That's it, that's the post — except it isn't, because a birthday is a good excuse to actually stop and take stock, and I don't do that as much as I should.

What I've Learned About Slowing Down (By Refusing To)

I'm historically bad at birthdays. Not the celebrating-them part — the letting-myself-have-one part. There's always a fair to prep for, a flow to fix, a board deck to finish. This year the vendor fair is literally eleven days after my birthday, which tells you everything about my track record with "taking it easy."

But here's the thing I keep coming back to, the same thing I tell everyone in Sunday Resets every week: you don't get permission to rest. You just have to take it. So this year, I'm trying to actually sit in my birthday instead of scheduling around it.

A Little Gift to Myself (And You)

New totes are out — a few of them wear our actual brand lines, a few are just honest in that specific Bossy Scribes way. One says "Not A Hugger." One's for the people who show up late because they didn't want to stop reading a good book. If either of those is you, happy almost-birthday to us both.

They'll be with me at the vendor fair on July 18, which feels like a fitting way to close out celebrate my birthday month — surrounded by paper goods, in New Hampshire, doing the thing I built instead of the thing I planned. Come find me. Say hi. I'll probably still be riding the birthday high.

The Actual Point

I don't have some polished lesson to hand you here. I'm turning a year older, running a small handmade brand out of New Hampshire, and genuinely glad to still be doing it almost a year later.  That's not nothing. That might be the whole thing, actually.

Thanks for being here for this one. See you during Sunday Reset — or the 18th, whichever comes first.
